Osman
(Cisco) Hance has been involved in the marching
percussion world since 2000. He performed with the Port
St. Lucie High School Marching band for three years and
graduated from the Fort Pierce Central High School
Marching Band for his senior year. The three years with
the Port St. Lucie band trained him well enough to
audition and make The Magic of Orlando Drum and Bugle
Corps battery after his junior year. After spending 2
summers with the organization, he decided to audition
elsewhere. He left Magic and auditioned at Carolina Crown
Drum and Bugle Corps. During his rookie year with Crown,
Cisco was named percussion section leader and center
snare; a position he would maintain for 3 years. He aged
out in 2007 with the corps, placing 5th in drums, the
highest the corps had ever placed.
Cisco started his teaching career
during the 2004- 2005 school year, his first year out of
high school. He took on a challenge by teaching at 2
brand new high schools: West Boca Raton Community High
School and Jensen Beach High School. In it's first year
as a high school, West Boca Raton took its band to
states, finishing 4th in its class. He then changed his
focus to Jensen Beach High School and, beginning in the
2006- 2007 school year, Sebastian River High School. In
Jensen Beach's first year with a field drumline, the
school received superior percussion awards and a best in
class award. In the 2007-2008 school year, Jensen Beach
went undefeated in their class. In the 2 years teaching
with Sebastian River, they received many best-in-class
and best overall percussion awards.
Not limited to scholastic lines,
Cisco began teaching independent indoor percussion in
2005 with the Paradox Percussion Theater. He was
appointed the snare tech position and taught there for
two years. He is currently the snare tech for WGI
Independent Open Finalist Stryke Percussion.
